Solihull Approach 2-Day Foundation training is available to practitioners across India from Stepping Stones. 

Mahek also delivers groups for parents from Stepping Stones.

About Mahek Uttamchandani

Mahek Uttamchandani is a Consultant Occupational Therapist at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre and the Director of Therapy Services at Stepping Stones Paediatric Therapy Services in Mumbai, India.

Postgraduate training and certifications

Mahek is a university 1st rank and gold medal holder from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (K.E.M.H and Seth G. S. Medical College). She has postgraduate training in the specialised treatment of children with Cerebral Palsy and allied neurological conditions from Bobath, UK, a Sensory Integration Certificate Program from the University of Southern California/ Western Psychological Services, USA, and Advanced certificate training in the treatment of small babies (0-2 years) with NDTA, USA. She is a certified Brain Gym Instructor from Brain Gym International, Ventura, California, USA and a Certified provider of the Therapeutic Listening Program, Acquired Reliability in The General Movement Assessment (Prechtl) from the GM trust, Austria. She is currently undergoing training in family and neurodevelopmental Education – FINE from London, UK.

Professional experience

Mahek has a rich experience of many years in providing paediatric occupational therapy services for children with Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Early Intervention and Screening for high-risk Neonates, Allied neurological conditions like Down’s syndrome, ADD, ADHD, PDD, Autism Spectrum disorder, Sensory processing disorder, Muscular dystrophies, Spinal Tube defects, Learning disabilities associated with poor handwriting and hypotonia, congenitally Acquired conditions like CTEV, CDH and Arthrogryposis Multiplex congenital, other genetic and metabolic conditions affecting typical growth and development. 

Specialised training in infant development

Mahek is trained in the Neurobehavioral Assessment Scale by Brazelton from the Brazelton Centre in Cambridge. She was also granted a scholarship to study the NBO (Neurobehavioral Observation) program, a relationship-building tool, in 2024 from the Brazelton Centre, UK. Her background in understanding and responding to early baby behaviour and language supports her skills in helping parents and professionals develop healthy, responsive caregiving and, thus, reciprocal relationships with their young ones. 

She has a special interest in infant and child mental health and promoting social-emotional wellbeing in children and their families. She is the first licensed provider of the Solihull Approach in India.Â
