We want to raise emotional health worldwide for a kinder, happier and healthier society. Through the evidence-based, Solihull Approach we are committed to providing accessible learning to help people and communities thrive throughout their lives.
We want to see every family, regardless of background or set-up, have the opportunity to flourish in their emotional health and wellbeing through connected, attuned and sensitive relationships with each other and themselves.
We strive to empower families and those who support them to understand emotional health, childhood development and relationships through accessible learning.
We are working hard to destigmatise accessing information and ongoing learning about mental health and about being a parent. In partnership with local authorities, health trusts and passionate advocates we promote emotional awareness and care for every child.
We’re here as a hand to hold through parenting to build confidence and nurture relationships for better outcomes for children and families. To make a difference, we aim to reach one million UK parent learners by 2028 with our online reflective learning offer.
We know relationships shape who we are; they shape how our brains develop from as early as pregnancy and throughout our lives. That’s why all our work, our online courses or our professional training, is underpinned by understanding the importance of healthy relationships.
Our team brings together experience and specialist expertise from clinical psychology, child psychotherapy and many others. Our resources come from research and theory embedded into practice and we are motivated by seeing the difference Solihull Approach learning makes. We know that emotional health is nurtured in relationships, it is built from pregnancy, growing rapidly in infancy and throughout childhood and then reshaping in adolescence. Through raising awareness we can support resilience and improve longer term mental health and outcomes.
We are proud to be an NHS team within the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and share and promote NHS values. We foster a culture of emotional awareness and empathy as a pillar of good mental health. Reflective learning focused on relationships is woven throughout our training, learning and resources to promote empathy, self-awareness and kindness.
We’re a small team with a big impact! Our roots lie in clinical practice in the West Midlands but thanks to a passionate network of champions, we are working to make a difference and provide access to emotional health expertise for everyone.
Our impact has grown across the UK and also internationally. With a global presence, including centres in Australia, Iceland and India, we work collaboratively to make sure every family can access our resources.
We are a team of NHS clinical psychologists, child psychotherapists, health professionals, and child and family practitioners, educators and parents here to bring you sound and well-researched ideas that are backed by 30+ years of practical application in clinical settings. All our resources are underpinned by the Solihull Approach model which has been recognised and upheld as a trusted and evidence-based approach.
